When it comes to a lot of our ingredients here at The Orange Food Box Company, we insist on fresh, Derbyshire and local produce. From our bread, to our fully traceable meats, even through to the beer we use in our beer battered fish n chips, being Marston’s Pedigree. So we read with great enthusiasm this week in the Derby Telegraph about the rising popularity of the Swadlincote Farmers’ Market, somewhere we’ll certainly be heading to for ideas and for fresh, local produce.
Local produce is always best. It’s not only better for the environment, as it has to travel less distance, but it’s sourced directly from local suppliers that we meet in person. So the quality and the passion is there and the food is fully traceable. And besides, it’s what gives our food that distinctive difference to premium event caterers elsewhere in the country.
The Swadlincote Farmers’ Market takes place in the Delph from 9am to 3pm, last Thursday of each month. You’ll find produce grown, raised, brewed, pickled, bottled, baked and caught in and around Derbyshire.
